What is the difference between on-pump & off-pump CABG?
- In off-pump CABG, the area around the blocked coronary artery is stabilized while the surgeon grafts the blood vessel on the pumping heart. Off pump CABG is relatively a newer procedure.
- On-pump surgery is performed on the heart that has arrested. The Heart-Lung machine temporarily assists in blood pumping until surgery is completed.
